Mega Chocolate Cookie Milkshakes

They say the best part of dinner is dessert…Or maybe that’s just what I say. Regardless of how the saying goes, we can all agree on one thing: We always have room for dessert. If you’ve been eating healthy all week, you sometimes need to let yourself take a step back and indulge. I’m a serious chocolate lover, so I always gravitate toward any kind of chocolate. For me, this milkshake is perfect.

Although the crushed-cookie lip of the glass isn’t necessary, you have to admit it does put these shakes on another level. It’s so little effort to really spice up the appearance. Drizzling chocolate on the inside of the glass serves two purposes: More flavor and an even cooler appearance. Of course, both of these (and the whipped cream) are optional, but if you have the extra ingredients or don’t mind splurging for the whipped cream at the grocery store, you’ll be amazed by how much tastier they’ll look.

If you’re not chocolate obsessed, I added another great sweet & salty shake idea below. And if your happiness depends solely on chocolate, there’s an even more chocolate-filled option below, too.

Ingredients:
1/4 cup chocolate frosting
1 cup crushed chocolate cookies of your choice (I love Oreos)
4 cups vanilla ice cream
1-2 cups whole milk (depending on desired thickness)
chocolate syrup (optional)
whipped cream (optional)

Directions
Start with two glasses. Take a scoop of chocolate frosting and spread it around the top inch of the glass. Roll in crushed cookies and set aside. In a blender, combine ice cream, remaining cookies and milk. Blend until smooth. Drizzle chocolate syrup around glasses, then pour in milkshake. Top with whipped cream and some cookie crumbs. Serve immediately.

A few more ideas:
Combine vanilla ice cream, milk, salted pretzels and chocolate candies for a sweet & salty shake.
Combine chocolate ice cream, milk, chocolate syrup and a candy bar of your choice (my favorite is Kit Kat) for a super chocolaty candy bar shake.
